I started Grief and Cigars as a blog about two years after I lost my (then) 25 year old son to suicide. Child loss is the worst pain I have ever experienced, and I believe it is likely the worst form of pain that can be felt. If you have ever lost a child, then a lot of this may be similar to what you’ve experienced.

I’ll also say, that we men aren’t very good at dealing with the complexity of something as fucked up as child loss. Too often the response involves alcohol, or drugs or a lot of anger. I was determined that those wouldn’t be my outlets. So, if you are a father who has lost a child, I particularly hope these words have some value for you.

The title may seem a bit obscure, but I explain it during one of the earlier posts.
