This is the video that Michael and I had watched and shared many times. He didn’t live in KY anymore, but we would talk by phone, and sometimes we’d talk about music.
We didn’t share the same musical tastes. Being a young guy, his tastes tended toward the heavier, more metal sounds. I always tended toward country, deep cut rock, or even some of the stuff from the 70s and 80s.
But, we both really loved this song, by this group. The guttural intonations of the lead singer, really reach down and touch the soul. This particular version, from the Conan O’Brian Show, I think is his best.
When I talk about sitting on my back deck and listening to music, this is what I’m talking about.
